Installation of the Pastor Ceremony

A newly appointed parish priest (Pastor) cannot validly perform certain functions, such as assisting at marriage until he has been installed in his new parish (Fortescue-O'Connell, 1962). I will be installed as the Pastor of St. Stanislaus Parish by the Vicar Forane (Dean) of the Souhegan Deanery, the Very Rev. John M. Grace, V.F., on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Stanislaus Church. Father Grace will be representing His Excellency Bishop Libasci. During the ceremony, the Dean, on behalf of the Bishop, presents and hands over to the new Pastor the various aspects and functions of the parish: the keys of the church, the missal, the altar, credence table, main door of the church, bells, and pulpit. The new Pastor makes the Profession of Faith and recites the Anti-Modernist Oath. It is a very striking ceremony and one I hope you will all attend.

Because of Father Grace's own parish duties, the earliest he can come is 12:30 p.m., so the order of the day will be this:

10 a.m. High Mass (as usual)

After Mass: NO coffee and donut reception. Instead, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament which will remain Exposed until 12:15 at which time Benediction will be given.

The Installation of the Pastor Ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will last about 30 minutes. Afterwards, there will be a potluck brunch/lunch in the Church basement with overflow in the rectory basement (accessible through the tunnel). Please bring a dish to share. Cake and coffee, plates, cups, utensils, etc. will be provided.
